It was previously thought that teenagers were duped into revealing personal information by sexual predators posing as teenagers themselves. But recent studies have shown that in most cases, these teenagers are aware that they are creating online friendships with complete strangers, and chatting with adults more than double their age. In spite of knowing these things, they are blissfully ignorant of the dangers of the internet. In spite of constant parental
monitoring, a number of teenagers are falling prey to online sexual predators, and are becoming victims of child abuse. With the advent and widespread usage of social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter,MySpace,  Orkut and  LinkedIn, teenagers have become more vulnerable to the dangers of the internet.

What parents need to know of surfing with security

Treat the online world as you would the real world: make sure you know something about what you’re children are doing.

Ask your children to show you at least some of what they do a computer, but respect their right to privacy.

Put the family computer in a public place.

Use a web filtering program or parental control software (see Best Buy) to make sure your children can’t access potentially disturbing content online.

Treat the internet primarily as a resource. If your children use it to help each other with their homework, for example, ask how best to manage that, rather than assuming it’s a bad thing.

Why do we need parental controls? Consider this analogy: As we teach our kids to ride a bike, we put on training wheels and supervise them as they ride up and down our driveway. Soon we give them more autonomy letting them ride up and down the street and later around the block unsupervised. Eventually we take off the training wheels completely.

Here we take a look at the particular steps of setting Parental controls in Win7.
Parental Controls

To access Parental Controls open the Start Menu and type parental controls into the Search box and hit Enter. Alternatively you can open Control Panel and click on Parental Controls.

When you open Parental Controls, click on the child’s account you want to set up.

Make sure to password protect your Administrator account…otherwise anyone can turn off Parental Controls and use the computer with no restrictions.

If you see a password hasn’t been set when you go into Parental Controls, click on the message and you’ll be prompted and Ensure Administrator Passwords.

Under Parental Controls mark the radio button next to On, enforce current settings. Then you can go through and control their computer time, games, and programs.

 
Set Time Limits

Click on Time limits to control when your child has access to the computer. If you want to only allow a few hours each day, it’s easiest to left-click and drag the mouse across all of the time slots to block them. Then allow the time blocks when you want to make the computer available.

 
Control Games

Click on Games to control the type of access your child has to games on the computer. You can completely block all games or select games by ratings and game names. These game ratings are based on the Entertainment Software Rating Board.

You can also select different game rating systems if it’s more appropriate for your location or if you like a certain system better than another.

You can also block games based on the type of content it contains…and it gives you a lot of choices.

Control Programs

If you want to restrict certain programs on the machine, click on Allow and block specified programs then scroll through the list of installed programs and block them.

Additional Controls

Windows 7 doesn’t have a Web Filter included like Vista did. If you want additional controls like Web Filtering and activity reports, you’ll need to install a third party software- Aobo porn filter or SentryPC parental cnontrol software. With it you can block access to certain sites and also get access to an activity report that shows you what sites your children have been visiting.

The Strict blocking:
The most common of all porn websites are, they always have keywords about sex on the title tag of website, the purpose is search engine can find them easier. 1. Download and Run the installer:

Filter Setting

As default, the “Use built-in content filtering engine” is checked, please do not modify this setting.

If you would like users to visit some sites only and block all other web sites, please check the option “Only allow to visit websites in white list”, then add the websites allowed to the white list.

As usual, you only need to block some kind of websites. Please uncheck “Only allow to visit websites in white list”. And add the websites/ keywords you want to block to the black list.

Please do not forget to click “Save Settings” to apply changes.

Password Setting

Type in your old password (default is 888) and new password and click “Save” to change your password.

Exit & Uninstall

You can Exit Aobo Blocker by click “Exit” button. Aobo Blocker will still run automatically when the computer is restarted if you “Exit” Aobo Blocker. If you want to reopen Aobo Blocker without restarting your computer, please Double click Aobo Blocker shortcut Twice.

If you don’t want Aobo Blocker to run with the computer starts, please uninstall it. Go to “Setting – About – Uninstall” to uninstall Aobo Blocker.
